What's New

New EBSCOhost Search Interface

Take the new EBSCOhost 2.0 database search interface for a test drive! EBSCOhost, which provides access to many of the library’s highly utilized online resources (Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier, CINAHL, and others), rolled out a new interface in July 2008.

New features include SmartText Searching, which produces complete results from partial information, a redesigned Visual Search, and an Image Quick View feature which displays article images in the results list. Be sure and check it out, get familiar with the new look, and be ready for your next research project!

Archives Completes Move - Spring 2007

The Archives of the Dakotas Conference of the United Methodist Church have been successfully moved to their new location at Dakota Wesleyan's McGovern Library. Pat Breidenbach, recently retired, longtime Conference Archivist, was instrumental in planning the archives facility at DWU, and played a large role in the move.

University Archivist Laurie Langland now maintains the collections and will provide research assistance for those with Conference-related inquires. For more information on the joint archives, collections, hours, research fees, how to go about requesting research assistance, and/or visiting the archives in person, see: Dakotas United Methodist Conference Archives and History or University Archives pages.

On the first floor you’ll find the Circulation and Reference areas, Special Collections, the Media collection, and the Multimedia lab. It’s also where you’ll find the Java City coffee bar. Come sit by the fireplace and toast your toes while you read the Mitchell Daily Republic and enjoy steamy cup of coffee or a frosty mango smoothie. Or check out the Dakota Wesleyan Bookstore for your textbook and t-shirt needs.

Visit the Student Success Center located on the library’s second floor for weekly Writing Center and Math Center hours. Student peer tutoring is also available. The second floor is also home to the Margaret Teufel Children’s collection, as well as the University Archives, and will house the Archives of the Dakotas’ Conference of the United Methodist Church. Group Studies of various sizes, and numerous comfy chairs are also located on the second floor.
